Crowdfunding to Raise Money for the Bookmobile
We are hoping our community members will reach out to family and friends to help us raise at least $25,000 toward our $100,000 goal. Will you help? If many of you help us raise $100 – $500, we will reach our goal quickly! It is easy to sign up and share on social media or by email with a personal testimonial about why the Traveling Library is important to you. Some people request a donation instead of a birthday gift. Check out several ways you can help raise $25,000 together in this community effort.
Donate to the New Bookmobile Fund
Please join the many households who have given $100 to $1000 for the new bookmobile fund. Once in a generation, we need to replace the bookmobile and now it is our turn. Any amount is welcome! You can set up a recurring donation to automatically make small donations on a monthly or quarterly basis. Make a donation to sponsor Commissioner Chris Young on his 50-mile hike across the county to pay off the bookmobile.
Our New Bookmobile
Columbia County residents have been enjoying our new bookmobile since June 2017. We receive limited government funding, so we depend on community members and businesses to donate toward the bookmobile.
The library raised $150,000+ since 2017 and now it is time to raise the remaining $100,000 needed to pay off the bookmobile and provide for maintenance over the life of the vehicle.
This may seem like a lot of money for a bookmobile, but when you consider that people will likely read about 900,000 books over the life of the vehicle, the value in dollars to the community is more than $1 million!
And, of course, you can’t put a price on the value of helping children to learn to read and gain a strong foundation in school, and the quality of life value of providing books to adults of all ages, and the value of informational resources needed for many different reasons in life.
Our community of readers donates $40,000 or more every year to keep the library going, and they have already donated $25,000+ to the bookmobile fund from 2017-2019. Now we need YOUR help.
Libraries help make life better — will you help us pay off our community library on wheels?
